The most effective tool against breast cancer is awareness. Being aware of the various symptoms that one needs to look out for, helps in catching the disease in its early stages. Cancer of the breast can be fully cured if diagnosed in its early stages. Surgery, chemotherapy, radio therapy and several other effective treatments combine to ensure that the cancer is completely removed from the body. However, if the cancer goes unnoticed and begins to spread to other distant parts of the body, then curing it gets to be more difficult and sometimes even proves fatal for the patient. Women who fall in the high target group must learn how to check themselves periodically and also immediately report any lump or other symptoms that indicate cancer. Wasting time in the case of cancer is never advisable. The disease is known to spread rather rapidly and once out of control the situation is almost always fatal.

Breast cancer symptoms are not too difficult to decipher. The most common symptom of cancer of the breast is a lump in the region. This lump is usually not painful and shows up in a simple self examination exercise. If you place your fingers flat on the breast region and massage it in circular motions, a lump, if any, shall be felt almost instantly. However this does not mean that a lump is the only symptom of cancer of the breast. A bloody discharge from the nipple, change in the skin on the breast, flaky nipple skin and even swollen underarm lymph nodes may indicate cancer of the breast.

The breast cancer ribbon is one of the several trends that have been propagated right through the entire globe in order to encourage awareness about the disease. The color of the ribbon is pink and wearers display it as a symbol of solidarity with those who do suffer from the disease.

Pink breast cancer satin ribbons have created a wave of awareness with more and more people learning about the various symptoms of the disease. Women, who were completely unaware that they fall in the high risk zone, have today, not only learnt about the various symptoms but also examine themselves regularly.

Breast cancer awareness has indeed helped reduce the risk of the cancer going undetected in the initial stages. Through the years, women have been able to catch the disease in the early stages itself and have sought out the right treatment for it. It is no wonder then that the fatality rate related to this disease has dropped drastically.

Indeed being aware of the symptoms of the disease and gaining knowledge about the various methods by which one can check for them, helps tremendously in catching the cancer in the first stage itself. Keep these tips in mind and you shall be able to prevent breast cancer from taking over your life.

Breast cancer treatment is more often than not a combination of a few types of cures rather than just a single method of treatment. Those who do opt for surgery, usually follow it up with chemotherapy too. Indeed the type of treatment that will suit a person’s needs will depend largely on the extent of the cancer and its reach. However, there are times when despite surgery cancer cells remain in the body and increase the chances of the disease taking over yet again. In order to destroy these cancer cells, radiation therapy is advised. Also known as radio therapy, this treatment method is not too difficult to bear. While like chemotherapy, radio therapy also has side effects, they are limited only to the area of treatment rather than the entire body. When opting for radio therapy, it is best to learn about the various types of radio therapy and its side effects. Discussing with a radiation oncologist is highly advisable.

Radiation treatment breast cancer cure involves an extremely high energy beam that destroys the cancer cells. With the DNA of the cancer cell destroyed, it fails to divide further and the disease is thus prevented from growing further. While it is true that radiation affects cancer cells much more than it affects normal cells, one cannot deny that in this process normal and healthy cells are also damaged. Even though the healthy cells are able to fight back and recover sooner, this is not to say that the process is free of side effects.

When combating breast cancer and treatment, it is important to remember that these cells are extremely small and no surgeon can guarantee that they have all been removed during surgery. This is one of the main reasons as to why radio therapy is absolutely necessary, even if the surgery was a success.

While radiation is a necessary treatment of breast cancer, it will help to learn about dealing with its side effects. There are mainly two types of radio therapies; external radiation and internal radiation. Both have side effects and right from the skin to the heart, these can be felt almost anywhere.

When seeking radiation as a treatment for breast cancer, the skin may experience a sun burn like effect. Sometimes patients complain of armpit irritation, while others state that they suffer from chest pain or fatigue right after a session. All the same none of these side effects are unbearable are quite worth the advantages of the therapy.

Radio therapy is often misunderstood and that is one of the main reasons as to why people fear this treatment severely. However, the therapy itself is quite painless and its side effects are no where near the hyped extent. It is no wonder then that most doctors recommend the process as a necessary breast cancer treatment.

Breast Cancer Support

Seeking breast cancer support is very important when suffering from the disease. Breast cancer is one disease that has both physical and emotional consequences. Breast cancer is said to be the second most common cancer in the world, the first being lung cancer. It is no surprise then that a very high percentage of women suffer from the disease. It is also estimated that over 85% of women who do get breast cancer actively seek support and information about the disease. One of the largest movements of breast cancer support is the pink ribbon awareness program. However, there are several smaller support groups that work in almost all areas now. Asking your doctor about these will help in many ways. Keep in mind that breast cancer can and usually does result in mastectomy and more often than not, this has a severe effect on the woman’s confidence levels. Apart from the surgery itself, dealing with the trauma of chemotherapy or radiation is not a good experience either.

Joining a breast cancer support group can help in more ways than one. To begin with, one does not feel isolated in her agony. Meeting other survivors helps understand that there is life after the cancer too. The fear of the surgery or the therapies can be quite overwhelming. Most support groups help in dealing with this fear. Sometimes problems like finding a good doctor, what to pay for the tests, how to deal with the hair loss, what kind of bra to wear after the surgery, etc, can all be solved by a good support group. Most doctors will guide patients to join a comfortable support group in order to deal with the other aspects of the recovery that are not medical in nature.

With the advent of the internet, today, women have the option of joining breast cancer online support groups also. Online support groups are no doubt convenient but they also help to learn about how the cancer is being dealt with overseas. These groups’ help tremendously in keeping a positive outlook.

When seeking support for breast cancer, it will help to check up a few local hospitals too. More often than not, hospitals dealing with the cancer encourage support groups and therefore are happy to give out information about them to those who would like to join.

Breast cancer support groups don’t need to be restrictive in any way. Women of different cultures and backgrounds, not to mention ages, have come together to form these groups and have benefited immensely from them. This deadly cancer can strike almost anyone.

Keeping a positive outlook is very important in recovering from almost any disease. Those who give up on life emotionally are much more prone to loosing the battle against this cancer. Seek out the most appropriate breast cancer support and fight back.

If you have ever wondered who faces breast cancer risk, then this article is definitely for you. Breast cancer is said to be the second most widespread cancer in the world, the first being lung cancer. Breast cancer is also the most common cause of death in women ranging from 45 years to 55 years. Indeed, these statistics indicate clearly that the disease is not to be taken lightly. While most people believe that only women are at risk in the case of breast cancer, this is not true. Men can also suffer from breast cancer, though the disease does strike women much more often. Breast cancer can strike almost anyone, but the disease seems to attack women in their late forties much more than it strikes younger women. Women who suffer from diabetes also seem to be easy targets for this disease. It is also a fact that women, who smoke, are obese, have suffered ovarian tumors, etc are all at a risk of getting breast cancer.

Simply being a woman exposes you to breast cancer risks. Despite the cancer begin so widespread, its awareness seems to be rather low. While it is true that women who suffer migraines, breastfeed, and exercise regularly are less likely to get breast cancer as opposed to those who don’t, this does not mean that these women will never get breast cancer. Over 30% of stage four breast cancer patients do not even find out that they suffer from the disease until the cancer has spread to other distant organs too. Indeed the strongest weapon against the disease is to learn about the various symptoms of breast cancer and check for them periodically so as to catch the disease early and consequently be able to seek a cure for it.

Women who fall into the high target group must realize that the risk of breast cancer striking them is rather high. It is therefore very important that these women seek periodic mammography in order to ensure they have not been afflicted with the disease. Those with family histories of cancers or tumors need to maintain this caution even more.

Breast cancer risk factors can be broadly divided into three groups. The first one being gender, the second one being age and the last one being genetics. So women who are over 40 and have family histories of the disease are at high risk.

There is a calculator that has been designed, which helps women calculate their risk level. Such breast cancer risk assessment, though it doesn’t give a percent, but it does help greatly in assisting women in understanding the various factors that need to be considered in such a scenario.

Conducting periodic self examinations will go a long way in preventing breast cancer from taking over your life. It is advisable that whether or not you face breast cancer risk, you must check yourself for the symptoms of breast cancer.

Metastatic breast cancer is the last stage of breast cancer. Here the cancer cells have travelled to organs far off from the breast region. Needless to say, the cancer is very difficult to treat at this stage and more often than not therapies used now are simply targeting prolonging the patients life, rather than curing the cancer. Sadly, there are cases when women find out that they suffer from breast cancer only once it has reached this advanced stage. Indeed, the best tool in fighting this rather widespread cancer is awareness. Conducting periodic self checks will help identify the symptoms of breast cancer in its early stages. Physicians also recommend undergoing a mammography at least once a year especially for those women who have a history of cancer in their families. There are awareness programs like the pink ribbon, which are being encouraged all over the globe in an attempt to teach people more about this deadly cancer.

Tastatic breast cancer prognosis is a task that is best undertaken by a qualified physician. Depending on the size of the tumor, the distance that the cancer spreads have travelled to and even the stage that the cancer has reached, a team of doctors will try and guess exactly how the cancer shall progress and consequently effect the patient. For this prognosis, it is essential to grade the cancer cells. This is done by taking a few cells for biopsy and studying their behavior under various circumstances. Interestingly, it is this prognosis that shall decide the most suitable treatment for combating the cancer.

Metastatic breast cancer treatment involves chemotherapy and radiation mostly. Surgery is not an option since the cancer is not contained in one place but has spread almost all over the body. Indeed, operating at several sites is not possible. The treatments in these cases aims towards increasing the patient’s life.

Metastatic breast cancer survival is hardly possible. The chemotherapy and the radiation is unable to destroy all the cancer cells since they divide rather rapidly. It is said that breast cancer is the most common cause of death in women between 45years and 55 years of age, indeed an alarming statistic.

Metastatic breast cancer survival rate is indeed very low. Mostly the breast bone, the underarm lymph nodes, etc are affected rather badly with cancer cells. What makes the situation worse is that more often than not these cells are stuck together. It is estimated that women with the cancer have a 5 year survival rate.

Catching the cancer early is the one and only method of preventing the disease from overtaking our lives. Breast cancer is said to be the most common cancer after lung cancer and indeed needs attention. Preventing the disease before it transforms into metastatic breast cancer is the only hope in preventing the disease from turning fatal.

Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer

Chemotherapy is one of the most common methods of treating breast cancer. The procedure involves killing of cells by exposing them to certain chemicals. Needless to say, these chemicals damage both the good as well as the bad cells of the body. However, the good cells are strong and therefore have the ability to fight back and recover, the cancer cells, however, over time die out. Since this therapy targets those cells that divide rapidly, along with cancer cells, bone marrow cells, hair follicle cells and cells in the digestive track are also damaged. This is the reasons why most patients undergoing this therapy tend to loose hair and suffer from weak digestive systems too. This therapy works for almost all stages of cancer, while in the initial stages of cancer; it helps destroy the cancer cells, in the later stages of cancer its aim is reduced to simply prolonging the life of the patient as much as possible. Since the drugs used in this therapy are quite strong, most people who have to undergo the treatment complain of extreme weakness. There are times when this therapy is given in combination with surgery or even radiology. Deciding the dosage of this therapy can be a tedious task. Given in low quantities, it will fail to destroy the cancer cells, however if too much is rendered it can harm the patient severely. More often than not a patient’s body surface area is the influencing factor in deciding the dosage of the treatment.

Cancer chemotherapy dosage requires a physician to undertake a personal check of the patient. The patient’s height and weight is then assessed and the blood volume of the patient is thus calculated. The dosage of the therapy is supervised accordingly. Indeed a smaller child will be given a much lower dosage than a grown adult.

While there are side effects chemotherapy, this is not to say that the treatment does permanent damage. As the therapy stops most of the side effects slowly die down. Problems like hair fall come to an end automatically and slowly and steadily the hair grows back. Recovering from the therapy does take some time though.

Chemotherapy breast cancer treatments must be undertaken only under the guidance of an expert doctor. More often than not, the medications in this case are administered via the veins, but there are times when the patient maybe given the medication orally too. Targeting the affected area rather than the entire body is extremely important.

Chemotherapy indeed has several side effects but the treatment plan is crucial to the recovery of a breast cancer patient. Asking your doctor about the side effects of the treatment will help to be prepared for them and combat them better. Keep in mind that the side effects are short lived while the benefits have a longer life.

Breast cancer cure depends solely on the stage at which the cancer has been detected. So in order to understand the various treatments for breast cancer let us first analyze the various stages associated with the disease. Breast cancer is classified into four stages. The first stage is when the tumor is not more than 2 cm in size and the cancer cells have not spread at all. As the stages progress further, the tumor grows in size and spreads to the lymph nodes of the underarm area. From here the cancer cells begin to travel to other organs of the body, the breast bones the collar bone, etc. The fourth stage is when the cancer takes over the lungs, the liver and the bones too. The last and final stage is known as metastasis.

Indeed there is no one general cure for breast cancer. When the cancer is in its initial stages, the cure targets removal of the cancer cells and a complete recovery plan; however, in the later stages, the treatment plan revolves around extending the patients life as much as possible. The most common treatment plan in cases of breast cancer involves surgery. The central idea here is to remove the tumor and clear out the cancer cells. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy are two other treatment plans that are often used in combination with surgery. Lately, hormonal therapies have also gained favor as a treatment plan for breast cancer. However, it is important to be aware of the pros and cons of each of these treatments when opting for them.

Since awareness seems to be the backbone of fighting breast cancer, several programs have been organized from time to time in order to increase this awareness. Many nations undertake the breast cancer cure by walking in order to create awareness of this disease. The symptoms and self checking methods are highly propagated during these events.

When seeking a cure for breast cancer, it is very important to opt for methods that have been tried and tested. Wasting time with natural therapies or herbal medications will simply lend time to the diseases, which will grow at a rapid pace and take over other parts of the body too.

Breast cancer cures need to be worked with as soon as the disease is diagnosed. Loosing time almost always spells doom for the patient. It is therefore absolutely necessary that once a malignancy test has been done and the results are positive, one seeks advice from a licensed and experience doctor.

The treatment for breast cancer is usually a lengthy and prolonged one. Most women undergo both psychological and physical stress during these treatments. The best breast cancer cure is therefore awareness of the various symptoms of the disease and knowledge about the method of conducting self checks on the breast.

Catching breast cancer symptoms early can save your life. Most doctors will encourage women to conduct self checks periodically and immediately seek medical attention, if there is any cause for concern. As important as it is to learn about the method of conducting a self analysis of the breast, it is as important to aware of the various symptoms that one needs to look for. A few common symptoms that point in the direction of breast cancer are a bloody discharge from the nipple, inverted nipples, changes in the skin over the breast and even flakey skin in this area. Sometimes even a swelling in the armpit could be a symptom of breast cancer. However, the one most common symptom is a lump in the breast. If you find that you have developed a lump in the breast, it is advisable to seek your gynecologist’s opinion right away. There are few women who suffer from a few lumps especially during their periods or while breastfeeding, but these do not mean that the women have breast cancer. All the same if you do feel a lump, it is always better to get a malignancy tests done in order to rule out breast cancer.

When assessing the various signs and symptoms of breast cancer, it is important to keep in mind that every lump in the breast is not necessarily cancer, so do not panic if you feel a lump. All the same, also remember that catching the cancer early will help cure it much faster.

While most of us are aware of the symptoms of breast cancer we are not aware of its various stages. Breast cancer is classified in five states.
When looking for a breast cancer symptom, keep in mind that mostly painful lumps do not indicate cancer. In its initial stages cancer is usually painless and it is only as the cancer starts to spread that the pain takes over the patient. This is also one of the reasons why the cancer is often missed in its early stages.

Indeed, it is crucial that one learns about breast cancer and symptoms of the disease in detail. Those who fall in the high target category must seek advice from their physician and undergo a mammography annually too.

Breast cancer radiation is one of the most common treatments of the disease. While the treatment can also be given individually, it is mostly combined with surgery. Radiation helps to ensure that the cancer cells that may have been left behind by surgery are completely destroyed and chances of re occurrence are minimized. Radiation is basically the process of exposing the patient to a beam of high intensity rays that help to burn the cells and prevent them from dividing further. Cancer cells have a tendency to divide rather rapidly and this is one of the main reasons as to why even a single cell can cause intense cancer within a short period of time. Radiation helps to burn out this cell and stop it from dividing further. However, radiation cannot differentiate between a healthy cell and a cancer struck cell, the end result is that it damages both. This is the reason for the side effects of radiation to occur. While some women suffer from skin burns, other may report hair loss, fatigue and even reduced blood count. However, it is important not to panic with these side effects.

Radiation for breast cancer is a common practice, however, it is very important that one deal with a qualified professional. More often than not there are various scary stories related with the therapy, these are mostly made up ones and apart from the obvious side effects, one does not have much to fear. The therapy itself is painless. It will help to keep in mind that the side effects are only temporary and once the therapy is over, these side effects will die down too. There are few tips that help reduce these side effects too and asking your doctor about them is highly recommended.

After a session of breast cancer radiation therapy, it will help to apply some moisturizers to the area. This helps cool down the burning sensation and also works to prevent skin damage. Some people have responded well to Aloe Vera gel too, which is worth a try.

The dosage of the breast cancer radiation treatment will vary from patient to patient. So while a more severe case of cancer may demand more sessions, a milder case will be given much fewer ones. However, the side effects do not always depend on the dose of the therapy.

When dealing with breast cancer radiation side effects, keep in mind that it is important to report them to your doctor. If you suffer from sweating, fever and intense coughing, do contact your doctor immediately since your body may have reacted to the radiation.

There are times when women also suffer from lung inflammation or some damage to the heart and even a rib fracture, but these occasions are very rare. Breast cancer radiation is known to be very effecting in combating the disease and one must learn to benefit from it.

Simply put, breast cancer is an ‘incontrollable growth of breast cells’. However, it would not be wrong to say that there is nothing simple about this disease. A tumor of malignant nature begins to grow in the breast and slowly these cancer cells start to wander around the body. As the cancer cells spread, the stage of the cancer increases and as the stage increases, chances of survival become lower. Every 1 in 8 women suffers from this cancer. It is said to be the second most popular reason for deaths in women due to cancer, the first being lung cancer. For every 4 diagnosis of cancer in women, 1 is of the breast. In 2008 itself over 2.5 million women were diagnosed with this disease in America alone. Indeed as clear, the statistics are alarming. While there are treatment plans of various natures that target dealing with cancer of the breast, the best tool against this disease is awareness. Catching the problem in its early stages is the best way to prevent it from spreading.

Breast cancer awareness programs are essential in order to educate women about the various symptoms of the disease and also how to conduct periodic checks in order to catch these symptoms early. These programs have been extremely helpful in making women understand if they fall in the high risk group of this disease. Learning how to use the cancer calculator, which is based on gender, age and genetics, many women have been able to fight the cancer by catching it in its first stage itself.

There is of course the pink breast cancer campaign, which is symbolized by a pink satin ribbon. This program created a wave by popularizing symptoms of this cancer and making it easy for almost anyone to seek out any information that they would like on the topic and thus spreading awareness.

The breast cancer ribbon is worn by many people in order to show solidarity with those who suffer from the disease. Since the cancer has several emotional and physical consequences, these support programs help tremendously in assisting those who suffer from the cancer in combating the disease and have been very successful in achieving their aim.

Since the breast cancer stage plays an important role in treating the cancer, it is very important that one catches the cancer early. It is surprising that in several cases, the first diagnosis of the cancer is done when the cancer has already reached its final stages. Indeed awareness is essential here.

According to the stage of the cancer, one can opt for surgery, chemotherapy or even radio therapy. A combination of these treatments also works well to fight against the cancer. However, being aware of the various symptoms of breast cancer and how to check for them, is the best weapon to fight the disease with.
